Break Free from Vicious Cycles
Discover the power of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to change negative thinking patterns and behaviors. At Peakland Therapy, we specialise in helping you break free from vicious cycles that impact your mental wellbeing. CBT empowers you to challenge and reframe your thoughts and behaviours, leading to positive changes in your emotions and actions.
Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, CBT can provide you with effective tools to help you feel better emotionally and improve your quality of life.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a type of talking therapy that helps you deal with different mental health problems by helping you understand the connections between your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. CBT is goal oriented and has a structured approach which focuses on your current challenges rather than on your past experiences. It is very much focused on the here and now and how your current thought patterns and behaviours are affecting you.
In CBT we say that what you think and do can affect how you feel. Negative thinking patterns and unhelpful patterns of behaviours can result in people getting caught up in vicious cycles. These can be hard to break free from and can make people feel stuck. This sense of stuckness can affect your quality of life impacting on many aspects of daily life such as relationships, home, work, family, social life, hobbies and health. Feeling emotionally stuck can hinder your growth and overall wellbeing.
CBT is highly effective at helping you to explore, understand and identify what your unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours are and how they are keeping your vicious cycles going. Working collaboratively with your therapist you will learn to modify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours and develop healthier and more helpful ways of thinking and reacting in everyday situations. Changing the way you think, and what you do, can help you to feel better emotionally. During CBT you will learn to develop new skills, strategies and tools which can help you feel more positive, self-confident and resilient, CBT can help you feel able to manage your mental health better, leading to a more balanced emotional state and helping you feel more in control of your life.
The tools developed during CBT can have a long lasting positive impact on your daily functioning and overall quality of life. By the end of therapy you will have become your own therapist so that even when CBT has ended, your progress does not. You will be able to continue to utilise the skills and tools you have developed from CBT to help you grow and develop, helping you feel able to tackle any future problems, should they arise.
